A Compilation of Silk and Bamboo Books from the Mawangdui Han Tombs in Changsha
Jointly launched by the Hunan Museum, Fudan University and the Chung Hwa Book Company as well as Cultural Relics and Ancient Chinese Character Research Center of Fudan University, “A Compilation of Silk and Bamboo Books from the Mawangdui Han Tombs in Changsha” project began in 2008 and later the books were published by the Chung Hwa Book Company in 2014. Four curators from the Hunan Museum were involved in the project, including Yu Yanjiao, Zheng Shubin, Wang Shujin and Wang Hui. Those books consist of seven volumes in total: the first and second include the reorganized catalogues, the third to the sixth are about annotations of scripts and the seventh retains many original images. With solid foundation, deep exploration, extensive coverage and novel perspective, this set of works have been highly praised by experts for applying latest theories and being excellent in material collation, proofreading and annotation. The books have been rewarded several national prizes in ancient books collation.
“A compilation of Silk and Bamboo Books from the Mawangdui Han Tombs in Changsha”marks one of the highest achievements the Hunan Museum has made in the studies of the Mawangdui Han Toms over past 10 years.
