Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi Visits Hunan Provincial Museum

On the morning of December 26, Yang Jiechi, foreign minister of China, in the company of Mei Kebao, deputy secretary-general of CPC Hainan Provincial Committee, Zhou Xianghui, deputy director-general of Hunan Cultural Department, He Qiang, deputy director-general of Hunan Cultural Relics Bureau and Liu Xiaobao, vice director of Hunan Provincial Museum, visited our museum with great interest.

Mr. Yang and accompanying officials carefully listened to the interpretation by Liu Xiaobao, our vice director, and they were deeply impressed by the rich collection in our museum and the brilliant culture of Hunan. Mr. Yang was especially interested in the objects reflecting the lacquer coating technique, textile technology, funeral culture, preservation technique, etc. On hearing that though two decades of endeavor, a duplicate that only 0.5g heavier than the original Plain Gauze Gown (49g) had finally come out, he nodded with approval and a merry smile.
