Visit Number Hits 4.37 Million since Free Admission
Since free admission policy implemented on March 20, 2008, Hunan Provincial Museum, through its unremitting reform and innovation, energetic exploration in new mechanism for public cultural services, has received over 4.37 million visitors for the past three years. With such premium services and products, Hunan provincial Museum was rewarded with more than100,000 messages written in over 300 filled-up Guest Books and in which, messages expressing visitors' satisfactory towards services and exhibitions account for 96%.
According to a briefing by Chen Jianming, director of Hunan Provincial Museum, staff in the Museum have not misunderstood and simplified free admission as “receiving government subsidy and then opening to the public for free”, nor deviated from museum’s professional route, but innovatively, pioneered among museums in China by creating a visit model of “all-through guided tour”, that is, dividing every 30 visitors in Hunan Provincial Museum into groups and providing each group with one-hour-plus free guided tour around “Exhibition of Mawangdui Han Tombs”, its core basic exhibition, at intervals of three to five minutes.
