Guqin Fans Show I Held at Hunan Provincial Museum
On the morning of July 31, “Guqin Fans Show I”, as an interactive part of “Finding Soul Friends in Guqin Melody: Exhibition of Seven-stringed Zithers”, was held on the third floor of the Exhibition Building where 30 pieces of Guqin ranging from Tang Dynasty (618—907AD) and the Republic of China period (1912-1949) are displayed.
Over 50 audiences participated in this activity, listening to the speech about Guqin culture delivered by Ye Hansheng, a well-renown Guqin scholar in his eighties, and appreciating the Guqin playing by members from Hunan Association of Guqin Culture.
Ye Hansheng, Honorary President of Hunan Association of Guqin Culture, professor of Hunan University and famous Guqin scholar, is giving a lecture to the audiences about the structure, cultural characteristics and history of Guqin.
Mr. Ye Yuanming is playing “Wild Geese Descending on Sandbank”, a masterpiece in Guqin music
Among those Guqin melodies lingering around the exhibition, what impressed the visitors most is the Qin-Xiao ensemble (Xiao refers to a kind of vertical bamboo flute) named “Xiangjiang Rivers and Clouds Drifting towards Dream” co-played by Ms. Shangguan Mingzhu, executive chief of Hunan Association of Guqin Culture and notable Guqin performing artist and Mr. Zhang Anyun, national top-class player from Hunan Theatre.
