Director Chen Jianming Invited to 2011 Euro-Asia Economic Forum

The Cultural Session of 2011 Euro-Asia Economic Forum

The opening ceremony of 2011 Euro-Asia Economic Forum was grandly held in Xi’an, capital of northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, on September 23. Chen Jianming, director of Hunan Provincial Museum, as the expert representative, attended the Cultural Session of 2011 Euro-Asia Economic Forum by invitation.

As the five equal sub-sessions of Euro-Asia Economic Forum, this year’s cultural session was themed as “Symposium on Public Cultural Service and Management”.

This two-day cultural session, co-hosted by Ministry of Culture, People’s Government of Shaanxi and People’s Government of Xi’an, attracted 19 cultural officials and more than 500 relevant experts and scholars from European and Asian regions.

Director Chen Jianming is making the keynote speech.

Chen Jianming, director of Hunan Provincial Museum, was invited to give a keynote speech on the symposium. In his speech named “Inheritance and Watch--Museums’ Function and Realization Approach in Culture’s Inheritance”, he illustrated the significance and educational function of museums on cultural inheritance and social development, which won favorable reviews from the delegates. Later, Director Chen also received interview by media about the management improvement on the public cultural facilities and service innovation.

About the Europe-Asia Economic Forum

The Europe-Asia Economic Forum, mainly sponsored and organized by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and Observing countries from the year of 2005, is an open and high-level international conference dealing with affairs of European and Asian areas under the responsibility of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. In April, 2007, the site of the Europe-Asia Economic Forum, approved by the State Council, was set in Xi’an permanently. And the conference is held once every two years in Xi’an.

This Forum is an important international conference for all European and Asian countries to deal with the challenge of global financial crisis and promotion of economic recovery.

This year, the 2011 Euro-Asia Economic Forum kicked off in Xi’an on September 23. During the two-day forum, which kicked off here on Friday, more than 900 delegates will exchange views on issues under the theme of "Innovating Euro-Asia Cooperation, Sharing Transformation Opportunity".
