Collections from Hunan Provincial Museum Exhibited at Shandong Museum

On November 15, an exhibition themed on “Painting and Calligraphy Art Works of Qi Baishi, Pan Tianshou and Three Masters in Lingnan School” was open to the public at Shandong Museum. This exhibition, co-hosted by Shandong Museum, Hunan Provincial Museum, Heihongjiang Provincial Museum and Guangdong Museum, ranked the first level exhibition on painting and calligraphy of Shandong Museum since its renovation. You Zhenqun, deputy secretary of Hunan Provincial Museum, attended and addressed the opening ceremony.

You Zhenqun, deputy secretary of Hunan Provincial Museum, visited the exhibition in the company of leaders of Shandong province.

Over 210 pieces of precious items are being shown in this exhibition which will run for over one month until December 18. Among all these exhibits, the number of the artworks by Master Qi Baishi from the collection of Hunan provincial museum, including paintings, calligraphic works and seal cutting works created by Qi Baishi in his different life periods, reaches up to as many as 100 pieces, taking a large share of the exhibition. From this exhibition, audience can trace back to the whole life course of this great master and take a close view of how Qi Baishi grew up from a humble carpenter to a world-renowned artist.

Paintings and calligraphic works displayed at the exhibition

To ensure the smooth progress of this exhibition, Li Jianmao, vice director of Hunan Provincial Museum, himself made scrupulous planning and arrangements, and staff of Painting, Calligraphy and Stone Inscription Team, under the guidance of Liu Gang, head of this team, as well as staff from other departments all made tremendous efforts for preparatory work.
