“Shanghai World Expo Museum, the first World Expo Museum in the world, is to be built in 2012 and planned to be open to the public in the first half year of 2015, said Liu Xiuhua, the director of Shanghai World Expo Museum yesterday.

The one-year anniversary of the Shanghai Expo was celebrated on October 31, during which the symposium themed on “Carrying forward the Expo Spirit and Effect” was also held in Shanghai. Liu Xiuhua said that the Shanghai World Expo Museum was the only official museum and official literature centre appointed by International Exhibition Bureau, which has been listed as the key project of cultural facility construction in the Plan for the 12th Five-Year period (2011-2015).

It is reported that the museum is to be located at the D09 of the Huangpu West Garden, Shanghai World Expo, covering an area of 40,000 m2. The objective and mission of this museum is to comprehensively reflect the glory of 2010 Shanghai Expo, to introduce the Expos held all over the world since 1851, and to provide a platform for the relevant cultural exchange.
