The opening ceremony of the Exhibition of Min Fanglei at the Art Lobby of Mango TV

The opening ceremony of the Exhibition of Min Fanglei, jointly organized by Hunan Provincial Museum and Hunan Broadcasting System, was held at the Art Lobby of Mango TV (the lobby of the main building of Hunan Broadcasting System) at 3:30PM on November 14, 2014. Wang Han, the famous host from Hunan TV and promotion ambassador of Hunan Provincial Museum, presided over the opening ceremony. Xu Yousheng, a member of Standing Committee of Hunan Provincial Party Committee and head of Hunan Provincial Propaganda Department unveiled the exhibit. Duan Xiaoming, the secretary of the Party committee of Hunan Provincial Museum, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. Min Fanglei was a kind of ritual vessel and wine container in the late Shang Dynasty (1600 BC-1046 BC) and early Zhou Dynasty (1046 BC - 771 BC) in China.

Min Fanglei has returned home after a century’s losing due to the concerted efforts made by all walks of life in Hunan, especially by Hunan Broadcasting System and other five units. This is the first time that Min Fanglei is displayed to the public. The exhibition covers new interpretation regarding the excavation, the twists and turns the bronzeware experienced, and its cultural significance. Focusing on its artistic features and cultural significance, the exhibition aims to fully reveal the symbolic meaning and unique charm of the bronze vessel – Lei. In addition, in order to enable the public to better appreciate the bronzeware treasures in Hunan, Hunan Provincial Museum has selected some renowned bronzewares and displayed them together with the Min Fanglei at the lobby of the main building of Hunan Broadcasting System. These bronzes include: Bronze Ding (ancient Chinese cauldron used for cooking, storage, and ritual offerings to the gods or to ancestors) with the design of Human Faces, Boar-shaped Bronze Zun (wine vessel), Elephant-shaped Bronze Zun (wine vessel) and so on. With exquisite designs and ornaments, magnificence, and superb craftsmanship, these exhibits present the brilliant culture of China and its long history.

This exhibition, displayed at the lobby of the main building of Hunan Broadcasting System, runs through May 1, 2016. During the exhibition, it is open to the public from 9:00AM to 4:00PM on Saturdays and Sundays (closed from the Spring Festival Eve to the fifteenth day of the first month of Chinese lunar year) with free admission.
