Hunan Provincial Museum Joins the Project to Help Preserve and Restore Tibetan Cultural Heritage
With the aim of improving the protection and utilization of Tibetan cultural heritage and the scientific technologies of local institutions, one of the key scientific research bases of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage -Tibetan Union Workstation was co-established by several main cultural heritage institutions including the National Museum of China, Shanghai Museum, Dunhuang Academy China, Hunan Provincial Museum and Tibet Museum etc.
On October 11, the Tibetan Union Workstation was officially launched. It shall strive to achieve the following goals by 2017 through cooperation and resources sharing: one, make Tibet a first-class domestic relics restoration and preservation center, equip it with first-level facilities and professionals; two, put forward a resources sharing model, a technology support, effective and sustainable management mechanism in accordance with the specific situation of Tibet; three, promote “science and technology demonstration projects” in key areas, restoring a good number of valuable relics in Tibet; four, train a group of professionals, enhance the scientific and technologic capacity in relics preservation as well as the inheritance of Tibetan traditional techniques.
Duan Xiaoming, secretary of Hunan Provincial Museum signed the co-construction agreement of Tibetan Union Workstation with several local museums and heritage institutions.
The unveiling of the establishment of the workstation
