ART CHANGSHA 2015 Kicks Off
“ART CHANGSHA 2015: The Bridge Linking China”, an art exhibition, kicked off on October 17. It was co-hosted by Changsha Municipal People’s Government, Hunan Broadcasting System and Hunan Provincial Department of Culture, and co-organized by Hunan Provincial Museum and Tan Guobin Contemporary Art Museum. The works of four leading artists, namely Francesco Clemente, Wang Guangyi, Wang Youshen and Zhu Jia, were displayed at the Tan Guobin Contemporary Art Museum. The exhibits covered various aspects, including paintings, photographs and installations. Moreover, artists infused the elements of Changsha into their works, building “ART CHANGSHA” into an invisible bridge unbound by place and time.
The theme of “ART CHANGSHA 2015” was “The Bridge Linking China: history, technology, poetry and grace”. The starting point of the exhibition concept was “The Powers Changing the Art World: globalization, information and the expansion of the power of discourse”. Meanwhile, the exhibition would focus on the following four major subjects: “history as the reference for all artists”, “technology as a power influencing all artists”, “the close relationship between poetry and the self-concept of artists”, and “grace as a way to discriminate different artists and their communication abilities”. In addition, “internationalism” was another highlight of “ART CHANGSHA 2015”. Besides displaying the works created by Chinese artists, the exhibition presented the works of Francesco Clemente, an Italian artist with an international reputation, for the first time. The exhibition endeavored to bring about international cultural vision to the visitors and enabled artists to develop creative ideas.
As a biannual contemporary art festival, “ART CHANGSHA” has been successfully held for four times since 2007. After eight years of development, it has already become a major cultural guiding force in the contemporary art world in Hunan Province and all over China. It has also developed into an art brand with a global reputation. Based in Hunan Province, “ART CHANGSHA” is committed to presenting the masterpieces created by contemporary artists both at home and abroad and bringing about fresh and exotic fashion cultural experiences to people living in Changsha.
