A blueprint of the museum

The construction of China’s first national garden museum will be completed in September, showcasing the essential beauty of Chinese gardens as well as model gardens in styles from around the world.

The museum, a main exhibition pavilion and the Yongding Tower, all to be completed at the same time, will represent the symbolic architectures of China at the 9th China International Garden Expo to run from April to October 2013, according to an official at the expo command office.

The expo park is located in southwest Beijing, on grounds twice the size of the Summer Palace. It will house identical recreations of gardens with nationwide stature, as well as European, Islamic and Japanese gardens contributed by 23 foreign cities or institutes.

The eco-friendly park will transform a huge construction waste landfill and is expected to serve the public after the expo closes.
