The Delegation of African Cultural Personalities visited our Museum

In 19th October 2008, High-level cultural officials from eleven African countries accompanied with officials from Hunan province culture department visited our museum. They listened carefully to our interpreter’s English explanation, showing deeply interests for extracted cultural relics unearthed from Mawangdui Han Tombs. After seeing and knowing the relevant cultural relics from Mawangdui Han Tombs, including lacquer ware, silk, painting and books  copied on silk and so on, they gave a highly appraise to our exhibitions of Mawangdui Han Tombs.

It was reported that African guest’s visit in Hunan is an important part of the 2008 annual activities of “African Cultural Personalities Visiting Program & Cultural Policies Round Table Conference”. The program holds every year, and has been established as a newly regular exchange program by the Chinese Ministry of Culture, and has been carried out effectively over the last two years (2006 & 2007). In Hunan visit, the delegation will inspect the construction of public cultural facilities and the development of culture in changsha, xiangtan, yueyang and so on, in order to promote communication and cooperation in both sides.
