Delegation of Hunan Provincial Museum Attended the 6th General Conference of Chinese Museums Association

During November 23-26, delegation of Hunan Provincial Museum led by Chen Jianming, director of the museum attended the four-day 6th General Conference of Chinese Museums Association & 2014 Museums and Relevant Products and Technologies Exposition held in Xiamen of Fujian Province.  

The Conference opened on November 23. Li Xiaojie, deputy minister of Ministry of Culture and Subo, deputy minister of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other leaders were present at the opening ceremony. The Conference amended the Statues of Chinese Museums Association, selected new-term team officials, reviewed the working report and financial report of the council and encouraged experts in various fields to make speeches about some hot topics in museum development. Chen Jianming was elected as vice president of the 6th council of CMA and Duan Xiaoming, secretary of the party committee of Hunan Provincial Museum as board member.

Museums and Relevant Products and Technologies Exposition, initially held in 2004, is the only professional exposition in China’s museum field. It is organized every two years and has by now been consecutively held for 5 sessions. With the theme “Museum Development•Technology Innovation• Culture Creativity”, the exposition this time covers an area of nearly 30,000 square meters, including over 10 exhibition areas such as products and technologies exhibition area and cultural institution area.

2014 Museums and Relevant Products and Technologies Exposition

During the Conference, about 30 professional committees subordinate to CMA organized plenty of activities such as academic annual conferences and specific seminars. Numerous public lectures were delivered by famous experts and artists including Shan Jixiang, director of the Palace Museum, Chen Danqing, renowned Chinese artist and Daniel Ben-Natan, chairman of World Federation of Friends of Museums etc. Besides, about 250 museums, cultural institutions and enterprises displayed their latest achievements and products in the exposition, making communications and exchanges with each other in relevant technologies and innovations.

In accordance with the Conference schedule, members of Hunan Provincial Museum delegation attended various academic conferences hosted by such organizations as the Regional Museum Committee and the Museum Management Committee. Meanwhile, they also visited many exhibitions of new products and technologies and talked with related unites for future cooperation.
