Digital Resources Platform for Museum Architecture and New Technology in China Launched
The digital resources platform by China Museum Architecture Space and New Technology Committee has been officially launched recently (http://ccamt.njmuseum.com). This platform is an important part of the Program “Four Databases plus One Platform” run by this committee.
The Program “Four Databases plus One Platform” was launched in 2010 by China Museum Architecture Space and New Technology Committee, aiming at establishing a digital resources platform in the museum community across the whole country.
This program mainly gathers video materials and architecture program materials relevant to architecture space and the application of new technology in all the newly built or on-going built museums across China. Meanwhile, it also stores information about experts in museum architecture field. With the database technology, the program establishes four databases: Chinese museum architecture video database, Chinese museum construction program database, museum architecture space and new technology experts database and members of the China Museum Architecture Space and New Technology Committee database.
Based on the four databases, an integral management system combining software and hardware is to be developed, in which one can log in, manage, search information, issue news and store information. This program will not only display the latest events, new development strategies, new technology and new creations in Chinese museum community, but also enable all the people in the museum community to share the resources from this digital platform.
Since 2011, Nanjing Museum, to which the Committee is affiliated, has sent a special team to collect the video materials of all newly built or on-going built museums across China. With the help and support from the leaders and colleagues in the museums visited, this Committee has already collected video materials of 53 museums and memorial halls in East China and Southwest China by July, 2012. They will continue to collect materials from more museums this year and next year.
At the beginning of 2012, the digital resources platform by China Museum Architecture Space and New Technology Committee was completely established after one year of preparation and development. The materials regarding architecture space and the application of new technology of 45 museums and memorial halls have already been uploaded on this platform.
With the development of the Program “Four Databases plus One Platform”, more information and materials will be gradually upgraded onto this platform.
