A major exhibition at the China Art Museum now. Porcelain works by renown artist Pablo Picasso are being shown in Shanghai for the first time. The event is dedicated to the contemporary porcelain of Pan Lusheng, whose works are being shown side by side with Picasso’s.

These porcelain works outshine all the rest, as a fascinating dialogue between the East and the West takes place here.

Created about 60 years ago, twelve porcelain works by Picasso have become the center of attention. Though the patterns are simple, the passion that Picasso portrays on canvas can also be seen.

Picasso’s Chinese counterpart Pan Lusheng also shows off his works. The two artists differ greatly in style, but there are also commonalities between them.

"Picasso and I are not so different. He started working with porcelain when he was 60, I started at 50. And we both did our work in small towns," Artist Pan Lusheng said.

The collection has previously been shown multiple times in Italy, and is part of China’s efforts to promote cultural exchange around the world. The event will run until February 28th.
