First Forum of Museum Directors Held in Changshu, Suzhou

On October 11 to 13, “First Forum of Museum Directors from Economic Top 100 Counties/Cities in China” was co-held by Chinese Association of Museums (CAOM), Cultural Relics Bureau of Jiangsu Province (CRBJP), People’s Government of Changshu City and Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Press and Publication (SMBCRTPP) in Changshu, Suzhou. Nearly one hundred directors from all over the country, including Zhang Bai, Board Chairman of CAOM, Duan Yong, Director of Department of Museum and Cultural Relics, State Administration of Cultural Heritage (SACH), Gong Liang, Director of CRBJP, Hui Jianlin, Mayor of Changshu City, Tang Yulin, Director of SMBCRTPP attended this Forum. It is a grand gathering on Relics and Museology in China.

“First Forum of Museum Directors from Economic Top 100 Counties/Cities in China & Seminar of County-level Museum Directors” is a sub-activity of the upcoming Shanghai 22nd ICOM (International Council of Museums) General Conference. Initiated by Changshu City and supported by SACH, CAOM and CRBJP, this great event has received positive response and participation from museum directors of economical top 100 counties/cities in China. With the objective of creating brighter future for museums in China, this forum provided a platform for Chinese county-level museums to hold in-depth discussions on the subjects of development orientation, management philosophy, service improvement, operation and development, especially on the harmony between museums and social economy.

Two days seminar achieved the fruit of Consensus Reached in Changshu. Zhang Bai pointed out that to create a more brilliant tomorrow, Scientific Outlook on Development and innovative spirit should be applied to every field of museum work.
