Guangyuan Museum offers glimpse into Han Dynasty

Guangyuan Museum in Southwest China's Sichuan province recently placed a number of new archaeological artifacts on display that date back to the Han Dynasty (202 BC-AD 220).

The newcomers include pottery with diversified patterns and bronzeware with inscriptions. They were excavated from the Dapingzi cemetery in the city's Zhaohua district.

The cemetery, discovered in December 2013, includes earthen pits, wooden coffins, and brick tombs.

As some of the most important Han-era tombs excavated in Sichuan province, they are of great significance in terms of learning how the area developed from the late Warring States Period (475-221 BC) to the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220).
