Hunan Provincial Museum Holds a Training Session for History Teachers
The exhibition Masterpieces in Hunan: Bronzes of Shang and Western Zhou Dynasties unearthed in Hunan Province is accompanied by a series of fruitful activities held by the Human Provincial Museum, enabling the general public to appreciate the bronzes and better understand its unique features and beyond.
In order to extend their knowledge of bronzes, Xiong Jianhua, head of the Department of Preservation of Cultural Relics of the Hunan Provincial Bureau of Cultural Relics was invited to provide a guided tour to about 20 history teachers on September 16, 2015. This was one of the trainings sessions for teachers launched by Hunan Provincial Museum this year.
During the one hour and a half guided tour, Xiong explained in detail the forms, patterns, functions and the related stories of those bronzes to the teachers. Several questions were raised by those teachers and then Xiong provided his answers. They discussed related knowledge with Xiong in a very good way, which helped broaden their knowledge of bronzes.
When the activity ended, the teachers stated that the professional guided tour provided by Xiong not only enriched their understanding of cultural relics, but also was conducive to fostering the close integration between the resources in the museum and the courses in the schools. Hunan Provincial Museum will continue to provide effective training sessions for teachers so as to promote exchange and cooperation between the two sides.
