The Key Scientific Research Base of Digital Exhibition inaugurated at the Hunan Museum
On November 29th, the inauguration ceremony of the Key Scientific Research Base of Digital Exhibition (Hunan Museum), State Administration for Culture Heritage was held at the Hunan Museum. At the same time, the forum of Digital Exhibition in Museums was held. Luo Jing, head of the Department of Museums and Cultural Relics (also known as Department of Science and Technology) under the State Administration for Culture Heritage, and Chen Yuanping, Deputy Director of Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, also chief of Hunan Provincial Bureau of Cultural Heritage, jointly announced the inauguration of the research base.
A glimpse of the event
The Key Scientific Research Base of Digital Exhibition in the Hunan Museum is among the second batch of key scientific research bases approved by the State Administration for Culture Heritage in 2008. As the only available one which focuses on the studies of digital exhibition in museums authorized by the State Administration for Culture Heritage, it has undertaken a number of national, provincial and ministerial level research projects and programs.

At the ceremony, the Hunan Museum signed strategic cooperation agreements with universities and enterprises, among them are Tianjin University, Hunan Normal University, MIGU Corporation, Ltd and EZ 360 headquartered in Beijing, respectively. Besides, a press conference was also held to announce the strategic cooperation between Hunan Museum and Baidu AI Museum, a step signifying that AI Museum initiated by Baidu was officially inaugurated. As such, Hunan Museum, which is among the first batch of museums in which Baidu AI Museum settled, can provide visitors with a series of new technology projects such as Robot Xiaodu, image recognition for collection and AR interpretations by famous stars, etc.

After the ceremony, a High-level Forum on Digital Display in Museums, also a board meeting attended by members of the academic committee for the key scientific research bas was held. At the forum, experts and scholars specialized in the application of information technology in museums, digital media, digital display and other sectors gathered together to have an in-depth discussion about related technologies involved in digital exhibition and its application in museums.
