Hunan Provincial Museum, despite of its reconstruction over the recent years, has strived to deliver HuXiang culture and actively cooperate with other museums. Recently, “Mawangdui Han Tombs” special exhibition jointly launched by Hunan Provincial Museum and Dalian Modern Museum opened in Dalian on September 19, 2014. Staffs at work
The 3 tombs of the Western Han Dynasty unearthed from Mawangdui (in Changsha) during 1972—1974 was considered as one of the most significant archeological discoveries in 20th century. To share the precious heritage with people around the world, Hunan Provincial Museum has organized relevant exhibitions in Europe and America etc as well as travelling exhibitions at some domestic cities such as Tianjin, Taiyuan(in Shanxi province) and Chengdu (in Sichuan province). The special exhibition in Dalian is the first one held in Northeast China.
In consideration of the long distance between Hunan and Dalian, staffs in both museums have made tremendous efforts to do the preliminary work such as packaging and transportation. Besides, to keep the items intact in Dalian whose climate is quite different from Changsha, Hunan Provincial Museum has attached importance to data gathering and monitoring. The museum also sent to Dalian several professional staffs and special facilities used for environmental monitoring. These experts from Hunan will help colleagues in Dalian with the arrangement of the exhibition.
