Mr. Peter Upton, British Councilor of Culture and Education in Guangzhou Visits Hunan Provincial Museum
Mr. Peter Upton, British Councilor of Culture and Education in Guangzhou and Director of British Cultural Association of South China and Liu Xiaohua paid a visit to Hunan Provincial Museum on May 30, 2011. They were received by Huang Lei, Director of Foreign Cultural Exchange Office in Hunan Provincial Museum and other relevant staff in this museum and a meeting was held between the two parties. During the meeting, Huang Lei gave a general introduction about this museum and the current exchange and cooperation between Hunan Provincial Museum and Museums in Britain. Candid and in-depth discussion was held between the two partied regarding further cooperation and Mr. Peter Upton expressed his support that he would endeavor to make future cooperation projects successful.
Mr. Peter Upton came into office as British Councilor of Culture and Education in Guangzhou and Director of British Cultural Association of South China in October 2010. He was in charge of educational, social, artistic and English cultural exchange affairs in South China as well as the operation of English Training Center in Hong Kong. Meanwhile, he also worked for the Global Higher Education in British Cultural Association.
Hunan Provincial Museum has established close relationship with Department of Culture and Education of British General Embassy. With its help, Hunan Provincial Museum and Department of Culture and Education of British General Embassy successfully co-hosted a training program “Workshop for Educational Staff, Hunan Museum Society, 2010” in Hunan Provincial Museum. Besides representatives from member museums in Hunan Museum Society, there were delegates from other ten provinces and cities, such as Guangdong, Fujian, Sichuan, Liaoning, Shanxi, Zhejiang, Hubei, Henan, Chongqing and Suzhou. They all participated in the program at the invitation of Department of Culture and Education of British General Embassy or Hunan Provincial Museum. The program was favorably reviewed in the museum community.
