Being held in Hunan Provincial Museum, Mysterious Tibet Bathed in Buddha’s Light enjoys great popularity. To enhance primary and middle school teachers’ understanding of Tibetan history, culture and Buddhist art, our museum held two exclusive salon activities for art teachers on March 15th and 22nd. About 150 art teachers from the primary and middle schools in Yuhua District and Furong District in Changsha took part in this great cultural feast.

The activity consisted of two parts: the visit of Mysterious Tibet Bathed in Buddha’s Light and the exchange of ideas after the visit. Teachers were fascinated by the exhibition at the first sight and marveled at its beauty. The exhibits were the representative Tibetan art works ranging from Tubo period in the 7th century BC to the modern era. They showcased many aspects of Tibet, including its history, religion, culture and so on and fully demonstrated the evolution of Tibetan religious art. Being attracted to the teachers’ in-depth discussion about those exquisite objects, many visitors stopped and listened attentively to their discussion.

Changsha Art Teachers’ Salon was co-founded by Hunan Provincial Museum and Changsha Education Science Research Institute on September 25th 2008. Over ten activities are organized annually, such as lectures, special visits and other kinds of activities. The purpose of our museum establishing the salon is to attract more teachers and enhance their understanding of the museum, so that they can deliver what they have learned in the museum to the students in their teaching. This would make the museum education more integrated with the school education. Many members in the salon said that the activity not only widened their horizon, but also facilitated the exchange of teaching experiences among art teachers.
