Two Exhibitions Held by Hunan Provincial Museum Open at Dahexi Pilot District Planning Exhibition Center

“Cultural Relics from Mawangdui Han Tombs Exhibition” and “Light and Shadows: The Oil Painting of Tuscany, Italy 1850-1950” jointly organized by Hunan Provincial Museum and Dahexi Pilot District Planning Exhibition Center opened on March 28 in Dahexi, Yanghu area. Nearly 200 leaders and experts attended the opening ceremony.

During the ceremony, Chen Yuanping, Deputy Director of the Culture Department of Hunan Province said that the cooperation between Hunan Provincial Museum and the Dahexi Exhibition Center this time was an excellent trial, which would integrate the cultural resources, providing a better cultural environment for people. Valerio Ballotta, General Manager of Italy MAGI900 Museum also made a speech. After the opening ceremony, guests visited the two exhibitions.
Hunan Provincial Museum organized several interactive education activities during the exhibitions based on various groups of visitors such as adults, teenagers, teachers and students. For example, in Mawangdui Han Tombs Exhibition, unearthed lacquer-wares, bamboo slip and pieces of silk and silk fabrics were selected as three themes for the special activities on Saturday. Besides, During the Italy painting exhibition, two self-guided brochures -- “Walking in Tuscany” and “Gazing at Tuscany” were specially designed by the museum to encourage the engagement of museum visitors. What’s more, Hunan Provincial Museum will send the replicas of collections to several primary and middle schools, helping students make close contact with the museum by giving lectures in the schools.
